Thornham, North West Norfolk

First time visitors to Thornham are pleasantly surprised to discover that the area is not "flat". Turn inland away from the coast road and the scenery is undulating and scattered with woodlands. Driving along the A149, between Hunstanton and Thornham, the sea and wide expanse of sky are rarely out of view.

Thornham Village

Small harbours which shelter fishing and sailing boats add to the local character. Pretty villages of flint and chalk and orange pantiled roofs add to the beauty and charm. Artists and film makers find it a paradise as well as those who choose to sail, or play golf alongside the sand dunes at Old Hunstanton and Brancaster.

Moorings

In Thornham village there are “olde worlde” Inns serving good food and a general stores and Post Office. The Coach Line bus stop and telephone box are two minutes from the properties opposite the Orange Tree public house.

The Lifeboat Inn

Bird watchers are ideally situated in Thornham, as the village adjoins two bird reserves; RSPB Titchwell and NNT at Holme Next The Sea. Ramblers have the choice of either walking the Coastal Footpath or joining the Peddars Way.

There are many interesting places to visit in the area; the Sea Life Centre at Hunstanton and Norfolk Lavender. Burnham Thorpe, birth place of Admiral Lord Nelson is a short drive away as is Sandringham House and Holkham Hall, both open to the public during the summer months

Just off the coastal path (opposite), between Thornham and Holme Next The Sea is the site of the Seahenge ancient wooden circle.
